Menu cut off with widescreen resolution

I use Soldier of Fortune Community Edition V7 which obviously inclues SoFPlus. I am playing with my desktop widescreen resolution of 2560x1080, but the lower part of the menu is cut off. This leads to problems in the single player campaign. For example the "continue" button on the mission email screen is missing and there is no way to complete the weapon selection screen. I uploaded a screenshot to illustrate the problem:


According to this link the old patch for widescreen menus should not be necessary anymore.

So how can I fix the menu when using widescreen resolutions?

or just lower the resolution a little.

Change resolution that isn't wider than 16:9 aspect ratio. There a list of resolutions in the display settings option that are safe to use.
