I will look into SoF CE again

Post by Evil4N »

Instead of posting a long rant about Ctrl and GoG joining together for all of us to buy a copy of GoG's SOF1. I am just going to cut that part and tell you all that I will look into SoF CE again. Partly I am also to blame for it to have given GoG the momentum to make our community dependent on them. I really don't like how outsiders try to take advantage of our "old but gold" community.

At the moment my SoF doesn't work on my windows 11 64bit computer, so that is a good point to start from. Dende's fix also stopped working after I upgraded from win10 to win11. I have private life duties, but I promise I will dedicate a part of my free time to start fixing SoF CE again :) It's afteralll still my baby <3. Later I will scan all the posts on sof1.org (and megalag.org) about what has been going on with SoF1 on windows.

As for you guys: Don't support me with your money, but support me with your posts of approval. Even I can use that motivation once in a while. Feel free to send me pm's for any tips or advice, or just post here.

I must say I felt tempted to try and piss you off for old times sake but kudo's to you for your dedication.

While you're at it, could you try and fix the TT forum as well? #neverforget

It's tempting isn't it? But on the other hand, I would love to see him get this game back to live.

I had not many options to get it tested on many different devices and windows versions. However SoF CE 7.0 will survive through windows updates and windows upgrades. There might be a mouse-acceleration issue on windows 11, I have no idea if this is a incidental issue or a issue for a large amount of windows 11 users. However releasing SOF CE 7.0 will allow us to narrow down the issues and release more fixes in the next SOF CE updates to come.

Regarding D3nd3-fix: This was not used... I did implement it at first, but it didn't took me long to quickly confirm that the new sofplus was already tackling down the problem on it's own ominous way as it usual does.

This will also be the last time you will see the sof-ce setup in it's current compilation. Because the company behind the setup-maker has been out of business for years and it does not recognise many fixes I wanted to implement on the windows versions of today. Today's sof and today's windows requires more fixes than just a filefolder and a sofplus, it requires registery- changes and temporary windows-settings changes while running SoF... I can only do this when switching to another setup-maker... but it could also mean that it is time for someone else to take the reins of SoF-CE from me.

edit: when the game is not starting in fullscreen-mode but it is stuck in windowed-mode than it means that you need to go to your windows monitor settings and change the scale back to 100%.

When i played SoF in 2020 (?) it had that mouse-acceleration issue and i couldn't fix it, it was extremely annoying. But i was (and still am) on Windows 10... Surely more people have issues with it i would suppose.

I downloaded CE 7.0 - Same issues with mouse acceleration, i run it on Windows 10. I tried messing with the settings but i don't think anything changed. When i got more time further on this week i'll try to mess with some more settings and try random shit hoping i can find the problem.

I'm ready to help you troubleshoot stuff, let's bring SoF back baby

I can’t even get SoF without 7.0 to start up really, 7.0 is the only one working but it has the weird acceleration issue
