how to start the game?
hi, wondering how to make the game start, I downloaded the community edition and it won't start, not even when I try running it as an admin

I had a similar problem.on win 10 or 8.1

Yeah polack. Anyway. You try to be funny. But it is actually a way to make SoF work on new Windows versions.

With game not running,
make a copy of "sof.exe" (save the copy in another Directory/ Folder)
rename sof.exe to mohaa.exe (not the one you copied and backed up, rename the original in SoF folder)
launch mohaa.exe

You can access Windows 10/8/8.1 compatibility options through the application Properties menu. Select the old game you want to open, then right-click and select Properties. Select the Compatibility tab. Use the Compatibility mode option to run your application in a previous version of Windows

umm.
if you have a newly installed system. I would download driverbooster ( cracked ) to scan and install. a lot of people criticize it, but this also helped me before with sof. and net framework All in one ( website )

This is a well known issue and has even been fixed in the GOG troubleshooting.

I installed the community edition just to see what's going on (win10 64bit all windows updates) - wouldn't run either so right clicked sof.exe and copy/pasted into the same folder then changed the shortcut path to
And all is good
"C:\Users\john\Soldier of Fortune\SoF - Copy.exe" + set console 1And all is good
